Men Must Stand Up for Women: Defending the Definition of Woman

The political left is well on its way to redefining the word woman.   As the father of two daughters, I refuse to sit silently and watch it happen.  If Christian men remain silent, we are complicit in the greatest attack on women in history. Denying women the right to vote and access to educational opportunities were unrighteous travesties of justice. But trust me, those despicable acts pale compared to abolishing the truth of God’s unique design.  As Christians, we believe the Bible is the divinely inspired infallible word of God.  The Bible is clear about the distinction.  The science is clear.  Men are not and can not be women.

The deafening silence from men on this issue is unbelievable to me.  I am reminded of two quotes from great leaders who addressed the dangers of silence in the face of struggle. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”  Protecting my daughters really matters.

Referring to another dark time in world history, Jewish Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel wrote, “Take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim.”  We can’t be neutral on this one.

It is becoming increasingly dangerous for people of common sense to express the common truth that being a woman is a distinction given by God, not by the whims of man.  Mark my word, if we are silent on this most important issue now, we will regret it in untold ways in the future.

The dangers of silence.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

One of the tools being used to dismantle common sense is Title IX. Enacted in 1972, most people associate Title IX with the equal access it provided for women in sports. However, the protections also extend to educational access. The Frederick Freedom Alliance stands with groups like Concerned Women for America, The Independent Women’s Forum and even the radical left leaning organization The Women’s Liberation Front who have rightly highlighted bureaucratic overreaches of the Biden administration. The overreach is dismantling Title IX and upending protections for women.

This is not the time to sit on the sidelines. Chivalry can’t be dead on this one, brothers. The stakes are too high for our wives, sisters, daughters and mothers.  I am not being over the top by saying redefining the word woman to include anyone who wants to be called a woman could end the world as we know it. The complete erasure of the distinction between male and female undermines not just legal and educational structures, but also the very foundation of our society.

I refuse to ignore the moral implications, but equally devastating are the medical and legal implications.  Some communities are considering erasing gender and sex from birth certificates and driver’s licenses.  Even as the American Medical Association caves to the progressive mob on gender identity, doctors still want to know your biological sex because it matters.  It is the difference between life and death treatment strategies.  The word woman is mentioned over 10,000 times in U.S. code because protections and government services for women matter.

It’s important to assert that individuals with gender dysphoria should be treated with respect and compassion.  However, their discomfort should not force society to completely rewrite biblical and medical truths. Protecting the definition of what it means to be a woman is not an act of exclusion but an affirmation of science, fairness, common sense and biblical truth.
