Robert “JR” Gurley Named FDFA Ambassador for Virginia
NEWPORT NEWS Va. — July 9, 2025 — The Frederick Douglass Freedom Alliance has named Pastor Robert L. Gurley Jr. (“JR”), a dynamic speaker and community leader, as its Virginia Ambassador to inspire faith-based community action. With 25 years of ministry at The World Outreach Worship Center, Gurley’s work focuses on Gospel-centered outreach and civic engagement.
Beginning his preaching at age 13, Gurley’s faith deepened after surviving a life-altering DUI accident in 1999. He will lead community forums, speaking engagements and outreach programs to promote Biblical values and constitutional conservatism. His global ministry emphasizes hope, resilience and principled leadership, making him a sought-after voice in faith-based advocacy.
