Giving Thanks for Common-Sense Leadership and Biblical Principles

In this week of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for so many things. I am particularly grateful that the American people have given us an opportunity to return to common-sense policies and Biblical principles. As President-elect Trump builds his Cabinet, the latest CBS poll shows that almost 60% of Americans are pleased with his nominees and likely the direction he is taking the nation.

At the Frederick Douglass Freedom Alliance, we view a Trump presidency as an extraordinary opportunity to advance our agenda based on Biblical principles and constitutional conservatism. Our mission has always focused on applying limited government ideas to the nation’s greatest challenges, and we are encouraged that the Trump administration shares that commitment.

One of the most immediate priorities for the Trump administration is safeguarding children. Parents across the nation have reason to celebrate President-elect Trump’s firm stance against so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors. He has pledged to cut federal funding to schools and health providers involved in these practices, which common sense shows are harmful and irreversible interventions on vulnerable youth. FDFA joins countless organizations across the ideological spectrum in supporting this policy as a victory for families and children.

Illegal immigration remains a cornerstone of President Trump’s agenda, and he has made it clear that bold action is on the horizon. His appointment of Tom Homan as border czar underscores his resolve to deliver on his promise of enforcement. While critics have dismissed his plan for large-scale deportations as impractical, the 73 million Americans who voted for him see it as essential to restoring order and sovereignty at the border.  As followers of Christ, our hearts ache for the suffering around the world that compels people to make dangerous journeys to our borders. But as mothers and fathers responsible for protecting our families, we know the best way to support those in need is to make sure that home is safe first. The best plan is to ensure that people who need asylum seek assistance through legal means.  It is not without compassion that we acknowledge the hundreds of thousands who have entered legally and are waiting to learn their citizenship fate. These people must not be overlooked.  We also can’t overlook American veterans, seniors, and citizens ravaged by hurricanes and other disasters.   Black voters supported Trump at greater rates than any Republican in generations because Black Americans felt the crush of inflation and grocery prices the same if not more than other Americans. Consider this. Black entrepreneurs are one of the fastest-growing groups to start a small business.  They benefited significantly by Trump’s first term policies, including the jobs created by lowering the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% and the relief from creating a 20% pass-through deduction for small businesses. By slashing red tape and extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the second Trump administration will bring real relief—lower costs at the pump, more disposable income for families, and a stronger business environment. President-elect Trump’s victory represents more than a political win—it’s a mandate for action. This mandate helps FDFA push closer to our goals. We need your support. Grateful for common sense leadership.
